Conduct daily testing and Quality Control functions in a foundry that produces gray iron and ductile iron components and machine and assembly of those parts as well as purchased parts.

Authorities and Responsibilities: In all instances, team members verifying quality have sufficient authority, training, and organizational freedom to:
- Identify and document quality issues for corrective actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconforming products.
- Recommend, initiate, implement, and verify solutions for continuous quality and process improvement.
- Terminate the processing, delivery, and/or use of non-conforming items until proper disposition of material or rectification of deficient conditions has occurred.
General Duties and Responsibilities

- Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
- Uses proper lifting and ergo techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Establish guidelines on what needs to be checked and what the quality standards are.
- Monitors melt chemistry with the authority to stop production if chemistry parameters exceed established specifications (exact details to be developed).
- Monitors sand parameters with the authority to stop production if those parameters exceed established specifications (exact details to be developed).
- Works with the Clean Room to establish Inspection and Repair processes.
- Works with the Metallurgy lab to make sure that processes are followed properly.
- Makes sure that all foundry related measuring equipment is calibrated as needed.
- Assists the Foundry with Quality investigations related to process controls and tooling development.
- Record and post Scrap numbers.
- Conducts routine surveillances of foundry-related in-process manufacturing activities.
- Analyzes and interprets testing results data, troubleshooting when results fall out with the expected ranges.
- Compiles data into reports for facility management.
- Determine quality metrics for all foundry-related manufacturing procedures.
- Develop and write procedures and work process flow control documents.
- Monitor the entire production cycle and perform regular tests to identify potential malfunctions as early as possible.
- Assists with the inspection of products and materials as needed for quality related issues.
- Identify the root of technical issues and recommend fixes.
- Prepare reports on material returns and corrective actions (e.g. number of defective raw materials per order).
- Review current mechanical drawings and quality documentation.
- Set and track quality assurance goals (e.g. reduce average turnaround time for quality checks by 20%).
- Coordinate with external quality assurance auditors and technicians to ensure legal compliance.
- Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of the products.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Oversees assigned team members.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or two years of experience in a quality or foundry related position.
- Knowledge of measuring tools and equipment and ability to interpret mechanical drawings.
- Good computer skills with CAD and solid modeling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of a foundry and metal casting facilities is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with fractions and decimal equivalents; able to convert fractions to decimals and in reverse; able to convert inches to millimeters and in reverse; able to convert inches to millimeters and in reverse. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to understand a mechanical drawing including the dimensions and tolerances detailed on that drawing.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word and related analysis software.
