About the Role:
The Field Inspector’s focus would be to assist the MHOLLC FTTH OSP Manager in all aspects of deployment of Outside Plant in assigned markets. Responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the extensive FTTH fiber optic network by performing various duties including confirming facility placement, and completing regular cable, equipment, or pole inspections. Incumbent must have the ability to communicate with contractors performing such work with a basic understanding of industry standards and construction of FTTH fiber optic networks. Field Inspectors are also responsible for properly reporting any issues to the FTTH OSP Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform regular inspections of fiber optic network to confirm production numbers, ensure restoration is completed properly and satisfactorily.
- Must be able to take concise field notes and be responsible for all field work and staking sheets, permits, ROW, and the final drafting of the field notes when required.
- Must be able to make recommendations on all findings and needed changes (with supervision from OSP Management).
- Must understand outside plant design principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards.
- Must have functional knowledge of PC applications and OSP record and/or computer aided drafting systems.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- GED or High School diploma.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Skilled in operating personal computer, MS Office products, smart phone, various software packages, and Web-based products
- Skilled in basic safety principles.
- Skilled in problem solving.
- Must know how to read construction drawings and help others to understand how to build using the prints issued.
- Ability to follow Corporate Standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects.
- Ability to effectively function as a team player.
- Perform Plant Damage investigation and reporting.
- Physical requirements include the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, extended driving, and lifting and carrying of moderately heavy objects.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
