The CSPD Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech) will conduct day to day operations needed for successful capture of field issues and reliability testing. This includes but is not limited to receipt, test, analysis, and reporting.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the onsite Facility Manager

JOB FUNCTIONS

• The Quality Assurance Technician will assist in the development of statistical analysis and trend data in order to maintain the Quality Information System (QIS).
• Conducts and records safety orientation for new hires, annual compliance, safety violations, and as needed.
• Conducts competency evaluations through skill demonstration and written assessments to determine areas for performance improvement and implements recommendations to improve operational quality.
• Develops and uses evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of training.
• Continuously research and study the professional field of Sterile Processing and Materials Management.
• Documents improvement findings and updates; submits reports to delegated management.
• Creates, records, and maintains accurate in-service records with complete accuracy as required by the customer and regulatory agencies.
• Engages in process and quality improvement activities under the direction of the management.
• Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for: quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency.
• Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation compliance requirements.
• Makes processes efficient and implements new services for areas of responsibility.
• Maintain instrument calibration, documentation, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of Quality Assurance activities.
• Maintain organized inventory of retained products and scrap products no longer needed.
• Writes complaint investigation summary letters to the individuals that reported the issues.
• Issue credits and replacement orders as required for complaint resolution.
• Follow up with sales force on outstanding issues following the time frames established in written procedures.
• Coordinate rework of product as required in response to complaints.
• Initiate corrective actions requests when appropriate.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• A successful QA Tech will be highly motivated, able to multi-task, and can communicate effectively with all levels within the company.
• Be a highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as in group settings.
• Plans, develops, and supports the implementation of a Quality Assurance program that promotes quality patient care.
• Develop a Continuous Quality Improvement plan.
• Develop objective, position-specific tools for performance and QA evaluation.
• Assists supervisors on performing QA reviews on staff.
• Coordinate QA feedback to respective management positions.
• Work with the leadership staff in Central Processing to improve programs where needed.
• Responsible for adherence of quality control on all sterilizers (i.e. biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring) according to the standards set by: JACHO, AORN, and AAMI.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the facility.
• Ability to assess and identify educational needs.
• Performs other duties as management may direct.
• Ability to successfully teach certification prep class, with a pass rate of 90-100%.
• Have knowledge of and stay in compliance with applicable infection control policies and procedures.


Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:

• Minimum five (5) years of Sterile Processing experience.
• IAHCSMM/HSPA or CBSPD Central Sterile Processing Technician Certification.
• 1 year of SPD Supervisor experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Knowledgeable of and in compliance with all applicable infection control, health and safety policies and procedures as implemented by the department and/or work unit and the Medical Center.
• Must be able to work in a cooperative manner.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Asset management systems.
• Thorough knowledge of the operation of instruments and equipment in the department.
• Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique principles and ability to apply such principles when orienting staff at hospitals.
