  • Position exists to provide a Quality Systems person who is fully knowledgeable and technically competent in doing Quality Assurance and Control processes, and possess the skills sets and experience to audit the daily Quality Systems functions and quality group routines. Provides quality control expertise to the group for the purpose of assuring quality manufactured and completed flexible pipe products within the established safety, quality, and production guidelines. This position requires minimal supervision in unique situations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for performing quality receiving inspections for the Baytown facility; including ensuring receipt of required documentation, performing actual inspections and/or test, reviewing HSEQ Technician receiving reports when done and ensuring accurate input into VQ. Responsible for ensuring appropriate release of accepted materials or components in a timely manner.
  • Performs internal quality audits on processes outside individual’s department; including ensuring internal audits are performed and completed to planned schedule, including pipe and connections manufacturing and other FlexSteel facilities.
  • Responsible for ensuring calibration of monitoring and measuring equipment/tools are maintained in accordance with procedures, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and API Q1 requirements.
  • Performs quality process audits, identifies process anomalies and opportunities for improvements.
  • Performs return goods inspection to ensure appropriate release back to stock or appropriate action.
  • Ensures pipe maps are current and accurate.
  • Reviews inspection documentation and ensures proper release of product into ERP.
  • Responsible for procedural compliance of the working Quality Management System, including 3rd party interface and ISO 9001/API Q1 compliance.
  • Generates Supplier related Nonconformance Reports; including ensuring placement of hold tags and isolation of nonconforming materials and components, as well as follow up and closure.
  • Assist in document control processing and record keeping.
  • Performs all reasonably related additional duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCEand QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.   • Associate of Science degree plus 2 years of experience in a recognized Quality Assurance/ Control position or a High School diploma and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a recognized Quality Assurance or Quality Control technical or greater position required.
  • ANST level II certification in at least one NDE method and/or at least one year experience and proficiency in calibration control required.
  • A working understanding of ISO 9001 is also required.
  • ISO 9001 or API Q1 Internal auditor certification and at least two years of internal auditing experience is also required.
  • All requirements must be accomplished in the primary business language, which is English.
  • Individual must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information to top management or other groups.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have the ability to compute rate, ration, & percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Must possess the ability to write, edit and implement process procedures.
  • Must possess leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have the ability to recognize and address any potential problem quickly, present workable solutions, work directly with management and the HSEQ group in the problem-solving process.
  • Attention to recognize must; therefore, continuous analyzing of the on-going process is necessary to recognizing and preventing potential problems. It is this individual’s responsibility to set an example in this area.
  • Must possess a high degree of verbal communication skill to ensure daily activity successes.
  • Must be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have regular attendance on the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  3. Regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  4. Ability to clearly hear voices or alarms, bells, and other noise.

  • Plant/Shop/Field Services:
    • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock.
    • Regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions (outside weather conditions); high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration.
    • Occasionally exposed to the risk of radiation or electrical shock.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  • Office:
    • Normally work in an office environment or from home as needed by the business; however, occasionally may work at a branch location or manufacturing facility.
    • Occasionally may be exposed to hazards such as loud noise, heavy equipment, temperature extremes, chemicals, etc., while visiting a branch location or manufacturing facility.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
