Job Summary:
The Bariatric Nurse Navigator is responsible for clinical guidance, education, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and oversight for patients in the bariatric program. Primary focus will be on promoting better health outcomes. This position collaborates with providers, patients, families, hospital teammates and the Metabolic and Bariatrics Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) to accomplish positive results. The Bariatric Nurse Navigator will work to identify and eliminate barriers to care by guiding, educating and navigating patients to receive necessary health care monitoring and resources. The position will be charged with building professional relationships with the patient and their families, local and regional healthcare providers, and vendors to ensure smooth transitions and timely access to care for patients.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensure/ Certification • Current NC license as a Registered Nurse is required. ASMBS (American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) Certification preferred.
Experience • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nursing that includes the care of bariatric patients.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Knowledgeable of tools and resources available for bariatric management.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with providers, teammates, patients, their caregivers. • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. • Proficient with MS Office and able to learn new software rapidly.
