Our top-rated organization is looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist (Registered Nurse) to join our Ambulatory Care Department. This full-time position is located in Farmington, CT. This position is accountable for coordination of a department Quality Assurance Plan, monitoring clinical unit-based core measures and Quality Assurance activities and determining division/department wide trends and issues.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Establishes and maintains effective, up-to-date data management and filing systems for Quality Assurance records.
Designs, compiles designated reports to reflect Ambulatory-based and department wide activities.
Chairs meetings.
Abstracts quality measures concurrent to care and retrospectively for value-based care and ACO contracts.
Abstracts and analyzes data to identify trends and issues and takes appropriate action.
Promulgates standards for Ambulatory Quality Assurance activities and reporting.
Provides clinically based concurrent and retrospective review of inpatient/outpatient medical records to evaluate documentation for compliance with external and internal performance and quality measurement requirements.
Assesses effectiveness of plans and activities.
Makes recommendations for change.
Coordinates responses to regulatory agencies.
Interfaces with other disciplines to manage selected issues and develop efficient reporting systems to increase compliance with quality-based measures.
Maintains awareness of current JCAHO and value-based care new trends in Quality Assurance.
Communicates with physicians to adherence to quality measure protocols.
Serves as a consultant regarding Q.A. issues.
Educates staff and physicians to quality measurement criteria, documentation, and best practice goals.
Identifies opportunities for research indicated by Q. A. findings.
Participates in designing and/or conducting relevant research.
Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of Quality Assurance methods, trends and issues.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and current trends in the relevant QA area.
Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant State and Federal regulations.
Interpersonal skills.
Oral and written communication skills; computer skills.
Ability to analyze, develop, implement Q. A. data and quality performance measures.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in nursing.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Two (2) years of the general experience must have been gained through active participation in Quality Assurance and Patient Safety activities.
SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED:
A Master's degree may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with apparent cause analysis (ACA) and root cause analysis (RCA).
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. May be required to travel to other UConn Health sites and may have to cover minor holidays on occasion.
