Position Focus:
The Sr. Quality Assurance Specialist will define the direction, strategy and planning on testing of key initiatives and portfolio work for Health Sciences IT. Reporting to the Director of Software and Analytics Solutions, this individual will partner with clients, developers, analysts, and project managers in reviewing business requirements and design considerations to develop, coordinate and execute testing for Health Sciences IT efforts.
In addition, this role will proactively provide status updates and dashboard reporting on all QA activities across projects and support activities including defect reporting, test case reporting and demand/capacity reporting to testers on the team.
The candidate will perform quality control evaluations, write, and establish testing specifications, assist in the validation of quality control tests, and assist with writing operating procedures. Relies on extensive experience, judgment, and familiarity with a variety of practices and procedures to achieve goals.
Principal Responsibilities: Responsible for supporting of all QA activities for Application and Analytics services within Health Sciences IT including QA planning, build and execution activities. Ensures QA defined process, procedures and best practices are being followed. Supports automation development and maintenance, ALM, and reporting needs over multiple moderate to complex projects. Accurately estimates time, effort, and resources required for thorough testing. Leads testing activity over the span of a release and/or project and reports ongoing progress. Understands complex automated testing and programming concepts. Evaluates test measurements and escalates risks to management as needed. Performs the testing of complex, multi-platform and communicates defects and errors and drives to resolution. Makes timely and effective recommendations based on testing results. Supports manual and automated testing.
Essential Duties
1. Defines and works within the testing strategy defined for the project, adhering to best practice and looking to automate where appropriate. 2. Leads the QA team and coordinates testing activities. Provides hands-on support to perform testing activities and validate quality of releases. Coaches, mentors and motivates QA team members.3. Develops and administers QA Schedules and monitors team’s performance against the schedules.4. Develops technical and QA best practices and ensures adherence to them.5. Ensures appropriate use of automation and regression tests.6. Validates the quality of software products to ensure business value.7. Coordinates testing activities during UAT.8. Defines defect tracking processes & tools.9. Facilitates excellent communication and collaboration between all internal and external teams. Manages stakeholder expectations.10. Identifies risks and suggests and negotiates appropriate mitigation plans.11. Resolves complex project issues that involve representatives from multiple organizations.12. Complies with standard policies and procedures.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and eight years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated ability and knowledge of Quality Assurance standards and best practices.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrative ability with testing applications in Salesforce, OutSystems or other Low code development environments.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Technically adept with testing tools, test automation and/or programming, with a strong understanding of programming concepts and the SDLC.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Demonstrated ability with agile and waterfall methodology.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Demonstrated ability in backend and database testing.
