Quality Assurance Specialist - Measurement (1189) - MOR
Summary/Purpose
Supports the manufacturing areas in producing high quality finished goods that meet or exceed our customer's specification. Uses measurement tools to perform incoming inspection, in-process inspection, inspection of potential JTEKT supplier parts and to evaluate questionable parts. Calibrates measurement tools, as needed. Evaluates customer claim parts, creates and runs programs and trains QA inspectors.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Must be able to comprehend English and follow direction from JTEKT team leader, supervisor and/or manager.
• Must perform all instructions as listed in the Job Element.
• Follow standard work as described in the Job Elements for each operation and produce quality parts.
• Must produce standard quantities upon completion of training.
• Inspect all safety equipment prior to start-up.
• Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Perform minor preventative machine maintenance such as oiling machines and do all necessary cleaning on equipment and work area.
• Follow the non-conforming material procedure when it is found and notify the team leader.
• Project a positive outlook in conversation and conduct.
• Able to work in a fast paced team environment without direct supervision.
• Responsible for 5S in their area.
• Travel, as required.
• May perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Communication Skills - ability to read or listen & comprehend and write & present information in English.
• Mathematical Skills - ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Reasoning Ability - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must complete a blueprint work book.
• Computer skills.
• Measurement equipment (calipers, air micrometers, height gage, gage blocks, etc.).
• Knowledge of QA machines (surface finish, roundness).
• Knowledge of PPAP's
• Knowledge of the metric system.
• Knowledge of CNC equipment
• Successful completion of the JTEKT Technician B Certification Program is required.
• Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
