The role you'll contribute:
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The Quality Assurance Coordinator oversees the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Quality Assurance Program's compliance with FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) and NMDP (National Marrow Donor Program) accreditation requirements for the adult patient population, along with the BMT Program Medical Director, Program Administrator and/or Designee. Establishes a collegial relationship and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in the Program, including the inpatient unit and outpatient clinic, and other Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) departments, to provide quality care and fulfillment of FACT requirements. Identifies, reports and recommends non-clinical solutions to deviations from Program standard operating procedures. Provides coordination and monitoring of quality for performance improvement (PI) projects, data, and outcomes for program patients.
The value you'll bring to the team:
Successfully maintains accreditation with regulatory agencies including, but not limited to FACT, NMDP, FDA (Federal Drug Administration) and CIBMTR (Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research) by tracking all changes between the current standard and new editions of FACT. Prepares updates for approval by department management and implements non-clinical standards.
Prepares and facilitates site visits from outside regulatory agencies including, but not limited to FDA, FACT, NMDP, and CIBMTR.
Responsible for non-clinical quality and patient safety initiatives per the FACT standards and audit requirements for the adult Bone Marrow Transplant Program, BMT infusion area, and inpatient unit. Elevates to department management clinical deficiencies to be addressed.
Educates and trains staff on PI initiatives.
Establishes a collegial relationship and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in the Program, including outpatient infusion, inpatient unit, outpatient clinic, and other FHCI departments, to ensure the provision of non-clinical quality care and fulfillment of FACT requirements.
Reviews processes for all areas of BMT program including inpatient and outpatient. Suggests improvement strategies and tracks progress and outcomes.
Collaborates with all aspects of the BMT service lines such as Infusion, ECP, apheresis collection, cellular therapy processing, tissue typing laboratory, data management, and inpatient and outpatient BMT to implement seamless, non-clinical quality care as one entity.
Develops, reviews and updates BMT Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance manual annually, with BMT Medical Director and Program administrative oversight, and provides staff training on updates.
Meets annually with Florida Hospital Quality Care Committee to update and integrate BMT non-clinical program results, under the direction of the BMT Medical Director.
Assumes responsibility for own professional development and maintenance of professional knowledge and skills relevant to Bone Marrow and stem cell transplantation.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
BMTCN Certification
Current ACLS, BLS and Chemo Certification
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
- In depth knowledge of FACT, NMDP, and American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) requirements
- Previous auditing, document control and/or policy and procedure knowledg
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or 8 - 10 years of Blood and Marrow Transplant experience
