Provides technical laboratory expertise to complete required analytical testing for measurement and documentation of finished product quality.

Principal Accountabilities/ Activities:

• Maintain reliability of Quality Assurance Lab Analyses through standards, control samples, and round-robin testing.
• Maintain accuracy of testing equipment through routine calibration, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities
• Perform quality control analyses to verify finished product quality, using standard test methods. 
• Record data carefully and completely in both written and electronic formats
• Communicate accurately, timely and completely required analytical results and observations to plant, sales, and/or customers (Certificate of Analysis)
• Order and restock laboratory supplies.
• Participate on plant or inter-plant teams as requested.
• High performance team member in a busy work environment
• Maintain safety and order of work area through daily housekeeping and inspection activities.
• Manage all chemicals and waste (hazardous and nonhazardous) in accordance to RCRA regulation and the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.

Education: Chemical Technician’s certificate from accredited college or Bachelor’s degree in science related field preferred.  High school diploma required.

Experience: 2 years prior chemical lab experience desired, depending on education.

Personal Knowledge: Computer Skills (MS word, Excel, Lotus notes, SAP) Statistical Process Control, ISO 9001, analytical instrumentation.

Personal Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, a sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize work, and the mind-set for safety and attention to detail.  Good Teamwork skills.  Ability to handle laboratory calculations.

Physical work environment and requirements: Standing and sitting in a laboratory environment; dexterity and hand eye coordination to perform key testing steps; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.  Some travel through chemical plant environment and movement up and down stairways required.
