Job Summary: Remote / Contractor – 20 hrs per week
The Quality Assurance Specialist will play a crucial role in overseeing the production processes at our contract manufacturing facilities to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and company quality requirements. This position involves a mix of on-site supervision and remote work. The position will also be responsible for ensuring proper documentation throughout the entire quality process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Oversight: Conduct regular quality audits and inspections at contract manufacturing site to ensure compliance with food safety and supplements standards, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA regulations.
- Quality Assurance Policies: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Assurance policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed across all manufacturing operations.
- Supplier Quality Management: Work closely with suppliers to ensure raw materials meet quality specifications. Address any quality issues that arise, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate quality records and reports, including audit findings, inspection results, and corrective action plans. Utilize digital tools and software for efficient remote documentation.
- Customer Complaints: Manage and investigate customer complaints related to product quality, working closely with customer service and production teams to resolve issues promptly and prevent recurrence.
- Product Testing: Oversee product testing processes to ensure products meet quality specifications before they reach the market. This may include coordinating with external laboratories.
- Training and Support: Provide training and ongoing support to manufacturing plant staff on Quality Assurance practices and new regulations.
- Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated with the latest food safety regulations and standards, ensuring that all practices at the manufacturing site are in compliance.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the production process that could affect product quality or safety and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary Quality Assurance contact for internal teams and external stakeholders, including contract manufacturers and suppliers, to ensure clear communication regarding quality expectations and performance.
Core Skills and Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Possess 1-3 years of practical experience in Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing sector.
- Proficiency in food safety regulations, quality control methodologies, and HACCP principles.
- Exceptional communication and adept problem-solving skills.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work setting.
- Detail-oriented with an unwavering commitment to ensuring product safety and quality.
