Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director of Admission.

About the Role

As an integral contributor to the Office of Admission, the Associate Director of Admission will be responsible for contributing to the student recruitment, selection, application, admission, financial aid, and enrollment processes. They will maintain a recruitment territory, including a charge to meet an assigned enrollment goal by region, and provide training, mentorship, and support for Admission staff related to recruitment efforts. This position will also serve as an Admission liaison for the Technolutions Slate CRM system and the Ellucian Banner campus-wide enterprise resource planning system. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Director of Admission and Recruitment Operations, the Associate Director will be responsible for maintaining processes that guide the operational functions and data fulfillment, query, and reporting needs for the Admission office.

Specific duties include the following:

  • Manage recruitment territories as assigned.
  • Represent the university at recruitment events, including college fairs, high school visits, presentations, and panels.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of Admission on-campus and virtual event sessions as needed.
  • Independently manage communications with prospective students, parents/families, and school counselors including communication by e-mail, phone, and text in support of achieving recruitment target.
  • Ensure that operations workflow is maintained, developing processes that allow team members to monitor daily tasks and demonstrate self-accountability.
  • Serve as a mentor to the Admission staff, assisting in ongoing training and onboarding new staff.
  • Use Slate to create, develop, and update queries and reports in support of enrollment metrics.
  • Ensure data integrity by maintaining appropriate processes.
  • Fulfill data requests, including query and report building, for Admission team members and campus partners (ex. university registrar).
  • Generate reports for State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), Vice President for Enrollment Management, and for meetings for the Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet.
  • Support university athletics by fulfilling data requests and providing Slate training as needed.
  • Train Admission team members in basic Slate functions and troubleshoot common errors.
  • In collaboration with senior Enrollment Management leadership, develop, sustain, and audit data transfer policies and procedures from third-party enrollment partners.
  • Support the Enrollment Management marketing and communications plan by managing processes related to the e-communications flow including mailings, call lists, SMS messaging, and other projects as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Successful applicants must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of three years of successful admission counseling or other relevant work experience.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Ability to articulate the value of an undergraduate liberal arts and women’s college experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Excellent public speaking skills, including persuasive oral communication skills.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational, time management, and process management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Demonstrated abilities to self-start and work collaboratively, as well as independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with students.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other campus departments.
  • Ability to work with alumnae/i from multiple decades on a wide range of Admission projects.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in all situations and discretion with confidential data.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally and out-of-state by ground and air for recruitment purposes.
  • Ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations.
  • Satisfactory criminal history and motor vehicle background checks.

Preferred candidates will have the following:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Two or more years of higher education or enrollment management operations-based work.
  • Experience with Technolutions Slate.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner.
