General Description:
Maritech Machine Inc., a precision machine and fabrication manufacturing facility, has an immediate opening for an experienced Quality Engineer & Inspector in Panama City, Florida.
The primary responsibility for the Quality Engineer position is to complete product and process inspections and support Lean initiatives within the facility in support of the QMS. Responsible for all first article inspections and inspection reports as well as calibration activities. Must have experience using measurement equipment in a machine shop environment, CMM experience is strongly preferred.
Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

Responsibilities:
- Quality Improvement:
- Uses Lean Six Sigma methodology to support Lean initiatives, improve processes and reduce defects.
- Analyzes and solves quality problems and is involved and or leads in quality improvement projects
- Quality Planning & Engineering:
- Creates and reviews completed AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports along with other required inspection reports and documentation.
- Manages PPAP process and documentation for parts as required.
- Ensures nonconforming material is processed according to procedures and dispositioned promptly.
- Read and interpret customer engineering including blueprints, 3D model-based definitions, and specifications.
- Assists in maintaining measuring and test equipment to ensure calibration is performed in a timely manner, and that lost, damaged, or out-of-service equipment is properly accounted for and controlled according to procedure.
- Prepare and selects sampling plans.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure on-time delivery and performs other duties as required.
- This position is for 1st shift, but the candidate must be able to support overtime and weekends as required.
- Corrective and preventative action
- Works with and guides inspectors on work priorities, proper inspection techniques, etc.
- Quality Inspection:
- Performs inspections and record inspection data associated with First Piece Inspections, First Article Inspections, Receiving Inspections, Final Inspections, and Work-in-Process Inspection in a machine shop/ manufacturing facility.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, manufacturing technology or Business Administration (related technical discipline may be considered) preferred. 5 years of direct experience with requisites in lieu of degree.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 5 years minimum experience
- Strong background AS9102
- Strong background in Six Sigma
- Calibration experience
Minimum Additional Training:
- ASQ (CQE, CQT, CQIA, CQPA, CQA, etc.) certifications a plus
- Strong background in Six Sigma preferred
Other Desired Skills:
- Above average computer and MS Office skills required.
- Demonstrated problem solver with direct experience in coaching and/or applying lean sigma, and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Must be confident in the use of metrology tooling and driving adherence to QMS procedures as well as Continuous Improvement.
- Familiar with CMM programming/reading and interpreting CMM reports
- Self-motivated, able to multi-task, and detail oriented.
- Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
- Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
- Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds
- Work on Specialized equipment
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
