What we’re looking for
We are hiring a Quality Assurance Engineering Intern for Spring or Summer of 2024 to contribute to our rapid product development pace. We work collaboratively to set the technical direction for our SaaS products, developing easy-to-use solutions for our customers. Our engineers find a deep satisfaction in building things that customers actually need. We focus on delivering value to customers and understand that this often means delivering code that isn't perfect, but meets customer needs.

This opening is on our AppFolio Property Manager product development team.
Your impact
- Conduct exploratory software testing to identify areas of improvement for our web-based applications
- Test new product features as part of our user story-driven, Agile/Scrum software development process
- Collaborate closely with software developers to resolve issues discovered during testing
- Coordinate across teams to ensure preparedness for each software release
- Assist in backlog grooming for upcoming development sprints
- Encourage and advocate team ownership of software quality
Must have
- Currently pursuing BS, MS, or Ph.D in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- Hands-on work/internship experience debugging web-based applications
- Analytical, organizational, and time-management skills with high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with development teams and product owners
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Agile software development processes: Scrum or Kanban
- Experience with some areas of our tech like Ruby on Rails, React, Redux, AWS, SOA
- Understanding of test automation and experience with writing automated tests
- Experience with Git
- Comfortable with basic command line functionality

Compensation & Benefits
The base hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $20.00-$35.00
The actual hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.
Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses/commissions that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
