Job Purpose/Overview
The QA Engineer is responsible for testing, evaluating, and validating complex veterinary software & hardware medical devices through the product development cycle and the execution of specific product verification and validation test plans, based on Product and Software Requirement Specifications, Product User/Service Manuals and Manufacturing build procedures. Will be responsible for following Sound Quality & Validation Department processes and procedures and perform verification and validation plans, which includes managing and maintaining the Sound Validation Status Tracking System, Qase Test Management Platform and Test Reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with product managers and stake holders to understand and clarify product requirements
- Develop and implement methods to assess and evaluate the quality and reliability of products
- Design and implement methods to assess and evaluate the quality and reliability of product manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Interface with product managers and software developers to drive improvements in code quality via manual and automated testing
- Prepare Test Reports and communicate findings, defects, and product improvements to enhance usability and user experience to product managers and software developers
- Review Product Release Notes, Product & Software Requirement Specification, Product User/Service Manuals, External Supplier-provided Documentation and other necessary documentation for technical accuracy, compliance, completeness to develop and document robust Test Processes, Plans and Reports
- Maintain effective communication with product managers and project software engineers on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements and interface changes.
- Evaluate new products as requested by Product Managers
- Coordinate with Product Managers to document Clinical Trials in Validation Tracking System and Test Reports
- Investigate, evaluate and replicate issues encountered by customers using root cause analysis techniques
- Participate in Sound supplier design, validation, and risk management meetings
- Manage QA Validation Department equipment and assets checked out for testing purposes and return per warehouse/accounting procedures
- Assist the Quality/Regulatory Manager on Material Review (MRB) of product manufacturing findings, supplier defects, customer product RMA's, internal audits and other processes as needed.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Testing, Quality Assurance or Technical Diagnostic/Troubleshooting, preferably in a veterinary/medical device design and manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and Hands-on Experience with Digital Radiology, Xray, Laser, POC types of equipment, PACS, software and systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Proficient in MS Office, Smartsheet and Test Software & Bug Tracking Tools
- High level of initiative with ability to self-manage
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface and collaborate with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Ability to read and write software code desired. (C#, WPF and SQL)
Working Conditions
Complete how the job gets done and the way it operates
The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.
The Target Pay Range for this position is $60,000 annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
