Sr Quality Assurance (QA) Hardware Engineer job description:
Vulcan Wireless seeks a Quality Assurance (QA) Hardware Engineer to join a team developing software defined radios for satellite systems. Designs will implement innovative communication systems in a fast-paced R&D environment. Vulcan is taking it to the moon!!
We are looking for a seasoned Quality Assurance Hardware Engineer to join our team. As a Quality Assurance Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategy for quality coordination and testing as well as suggesting solutions to identified quality problems in our Hardware Department.
In the QA engineer role, you will be involved in the overall review and revision of manual and automated testing plans, procedures and final product inspection criteria before shipment. Success in this role will be demonstrated by leading the team’s QA initiatives and efforts to optimize quality control processes, minimize defects, and increase customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities for QA Engineer:
- Create tests to identify software/hardware problems.
- Analyze bugs and errors found during tests.
- Document results of tests for the software and hardware development teams.
- Recommend improvements in software to enhance user experience.
- Motivate the development process for efficiency and performance.
- Works together with the software developer to enhance and improve automated programs.
- Research and compare similar competitor products.
- Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends and advancements.
- Implementing methods to inspect, test and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing processes, products and production equipment.
- Monitors implementation of QA processes and plans (Inspection Test Plans and Quality Control Plans)
- Conducts periodic team meetings to ensure alignment with QA process and address issues with QA tools and making sure processes adhere to quality standards.
- Preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Working in accordance with deadlines for delivery of products or software.
- Implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 procedures and standards.
Qualifications for QA Engineer:
- Strong knowledge of relevant software, Quality Assurance methods, tools, and quality manufacturing processes.
- Experience in software and hardware development and testing.
- High proficiency in computer technology and programming languages.
- Mathematical skills.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Windows.
- In-depth understanding of Java, Python, SQL, C++, and XML.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Great team player and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Able to sit in front of a computer for long hours at a time.

Quality Assurance Hardware Engineer education and training requirements:
- Minimum 5-10 years of QA experience
- Experience in international quality standards such as ISO 9001
- Certification as a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), which includes training in quality management systems, leadership and management, customer relations, communication skills and supplier management.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree a plus
Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000. This salary range considers a wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, education and years of experience.

Physical Demands:
An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Work Environment
The job operates in a professional office environment but with some manufacturing done in-house. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Some travel to job sites and/or offices is required. Must be able to travel and work extended schedule as needed.
