GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The primary responsibility of the QC Lab Technician is to conduct inspections, sampling, microbiological and analytical testing of food grade materials to ensure products meet or exceed requirements for quality and food safety. The QC Lab Tech performs analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products manufactured or received on-site in accordance with SOPs, GMP, and FDA requirements. Additional responsibilities include environmental monitoring of the facility, routine maintenance and verification of lab equipment, as well as general lab upkeep. This position is a key on-site participant. Must contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative, and efficient team, and exhibit “Humble, Hungry, Smart” qualities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct sampling and testing of raw material, intermediate, and finished product, and environmental samples.
- Perform inspection and release of processing lines, equipment, and rooms.
- Maintain sample integrity through proper sampling, identification, traceability, and storage.
- Maintain accurate records of all GMP activities conducted in the laboratory and manufacturing areas
- Communicate any questions and issues with leadership.
- Maintain supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of all lab areas.
- Collect information for various investigations, discern what is pertinent and report to leadership.
- Generate reports from large amounts of data, evaluate trends, and draw conclusions to report to leadership.
- Conduct special projects with guidance from leadership.
- Manage routine projects with medium to large scope with limited guidance from leadership.
- Troubleshoot lab related issues, equipment, process, etc.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), good laboratory practices (GLPs), good manufacturing practices (GMPs), and good documentation practices (GDPs).
- Technical and administrative duties include creation/modification of analytical methods, SOPs and associated forms, data entry, KPI reporting
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures, including training and development requirements
- Routine tasks are carried out autonomously.
- Occasional preparation of media and diluents, including material verification, weighing, autoclaving, pouring, dispensing.
- Additional routing tasks may be assigned, including filling-in for team members.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in food sciences, microbiology, biology, chemistry or the like required. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience with aseptic technique and applicable laboratory methods (4 years preferred)
- Knowledge and experience with good laboratory practices (GLPs), good manufacturing practices (GMPs), and good documentation practices (GDPs) (4 years preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products
- Experience working in an ISO-certified environment, preferred.
