Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
- Lab technician experience preferred.
- Must feel “at home” in a refrigerated, multi-cultural, meat-processing environment.
- Must be able to be on your feet all day and lift at least 40 pounds frequently.
- Food and/or meat industry experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft and GSuite applications.
- Must possess strong computer, organizational, and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain calibration, cleaning, and preventive maintenance of lab equipment including spectrophotometer (NIR), moisture analyzer, texture analyzers, pipette, freeze-dryer and incubator.
- Develop spectrophotometer calibration files for raw material, blends, and finished goods.
- Perform microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory analysis of products following good laboratory practices.
- Develop and maintain raw material specifications.
- Complete Certificates of Analysis for customers.
- Perform testing of raw materials, record results, and provide quarterly reporting to leadership.
- Support production of product samples and testing.
- Perform quarterly gluten testing.
- Perform quarterly pentobarbital testing
- Maintain laboratory supplies and ingredient inventory levels.
- Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain lab cleanliness and organization.
- Assist in making product lab samples.
- Support QA, Sales, Operations, and Purchasing as needed to successfully meet customer expectations for product quality, regulatory compliance, and food safety.
- Ensure compliance to CMC’s Food Safety Management System (FSMS) when performing job responsibilities.
- Report issues with regards to the food safety/quality assurance system (FSQA) to Leadership and adhere to the requirements of the FSQA standards.
