QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN - ATWATER, CA
  • HOURLY RATE = $23.61
  • POSITION STATUS: UNION

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To assure the highest quality of all products, finished and raw, through verification of all related documents, records and procedures. Ensure the company follows or is making attempts to improve its position related to Federal, State, and Local regulations involving the manufacturing of food products for human consumption.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (this list is not exhaustive):
  • Monitors production lines to ensure product is within specification and all critical control points are met and corrective action taken when deviation occurs
  • Responsible for necessary orientation and/or training of employees
  • Must be willing to fill in for lab assist or line checkers if required and be able to work any shift.
  • Oversees and conducts tests for all Quality attributes of products
  • Reviews daily lab paperwork and takes all necessary corrective action to any deviation and enter to Deacom.
  • Responsible to send all sample requests and water samples
  • Responsible to Hold/Release product according to company policy
  • Will be involved and/or coordinate activities for product recall.
  • Maintain and file all necessary records required by State/regulatory agencies
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to trouble shoot to assist the lab employees on any issues with lab equipment/instruments such as Moisture, salt, pH machine
  • Conducts standardized tests for- products and ingredients to ensure they comply with customer's specifications and meet State and regulatory guidelines.
  • Performs all Sanitation and Food Safety Inspections according to company procedures.
  • Responsible to run all quality related tests using lab equipment and tools such Moisture machine, pH meter.
  • Reports may include information reported by Line Checker and Retort Operators. Reports will require some computations.
  • Responsible to log correct and accurate data for all testing done on production runs.
  • Maintain and file all records according to company policy
  • Work with management, supervision to insure accurate information is being used in the production of the products and assist with any quality and Food Safety Related issues.
  • Other duties as needed assigned by QC Manager.
  • Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures on safety, GMP's and GLP's.
  • For guidelines and specific Procedure on how to perform tasks, refer to Standard Operating Procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an applicant must be able to perform each of the specific responsibilities satisfactorily. Five years experience in a laboratory setting, 1 year of experience as a production line checks or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to make decisions. Ability to work with managerial, clerical, production and maintenance personnel. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence legibly. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence legibly. Must be able to pass an assessment rest and QC test and pass with 80%. Ability to understand and carry out instruction with little direction. Must carry out "Good Manufacturing Practices" to ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Communications Skills - Good listening skills and habits are essential for this position. Excellent ability to resolve issues and solve problems through personal interaction. Above average verbal and written communication skills essential. Some knowledge of Spanish.
Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze and interpret production data. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages. Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, thoroughness and efficiency.
Initiative and Ingenuity - Ability to apply appropriate judgment and initiative in determining source of information, and action required for results and solutions. Demonstrates a willingness to learn, and the ability to handle new responsibilities.
Confidentialityand Integrity - Ability to treat information in a strictly confidential manner. Acts in the best interest of the company throughout the day.
Reasoning Ability - Excellent problem solving skills and analytical skills. Above average attention to details. Can demonstrate good common sense and reasoning skills. Ability to interpret a wide variety of instructions furnished in a written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
Other Skills and Abilities - Possesses above average organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize to meet multiple deadlines. Possesses a strong team player attitude and has the ability and willingness to work overtime to complete own work or to assist co-workers. Always presents a very professional image in dress and demeanor. Has the ability to function under a high degree of complexity and can handle a number of critical situations at once.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee frequently works in areas of high stacked pallets of product that may be at levels of 15-25 ft heights.
