As a Purchasing Specialist at Scotts Miracle-Gro, you will play a pivotal role in managing equipment leasing, tracking payments, and ensuring seamless operations within our procurement department. You'll collaborate closely with the Procurement Manager, supporting various functions including analytics, reporting, and system maintenance. This position demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-energy environment.
This role will be expected to be able to work a Hybrid model at our Corporate Headquarters in Marysville, OH! We would expected to work in the office 2-3 days a week!
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day process of leasing and tracking Material Handling and Construction equipment, ensuring efficient utilization and timely returns.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies, ensuring accurate and on-time payments.
- Create and oversee purchase orders and contracts related to equipment leasing and maintenance.
- Work closely with the Finance team to track expenditures against budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Facilitate communication and transactions with our fleet vehicle management company, ensuring smooth operations.
- Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and ratings to measure performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Identify and pursue new savings and value-added opportunities in equipment leasing and procurement processes.
- Uphold procurement best practices, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach and the ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of assigned tasks and projects.

- Bachelors or Associates Degree
- 2+ years of industry experience.
- Good communication skills – both oral and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
- Team player with the ability to work on cross-functional teams
- Analytical and strategic thought process
Some other nice to have’s:
- Experience working on multi-function teams and ability to represent Procurement needs on project teams
- Procurement experience
- SAP knowledge
- Knowledge and previous experience with Google Docs, Google Mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
