As a Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories. Additionally, this individual will be directly responsible for materials management in order to meet company needs and stay within budget.
Responsibilities
· Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies.
· Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
· Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms.
· Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
· Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
· Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
· Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers.
· Determine quantity and timing of deliveries.
· Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
· Knowledge of modern procurement methods and strategies (e.g., contracting, bid management, supplier relationship management, total cost of ownership).
· Effective team management and in communicating with all levels in the organization.
· Set clear expectations and commit to the delivery, takes pride in achieving highest standards and results. Hold people accountable for their commitments and delivery.
- Updates company on new products used and specification changes.
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and item specifications.
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Assist to develop policies and procedures in areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage and distribution of materials.
Skills/Knowledge
· 5-8 years of proven working experience as Purchasing Manager in construction
· Experience in cost analysis and strong financial knowledge
· Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
· Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
· A knack for negotiation and networking
· Working experience of vendor management software
· Ability to gather and analyze data
· Solid judgement along with decision making skills
· Strong leadership capabilities
· BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration preferred
