THIS ROLE:
The Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager will work in collaboration with the Controller, manage Jr. Buyers, and manage Receiving personnel to source, purchase, and receive the company's products and services. The Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for training and managing the purchasing team, overseeing the procurement process and ensuring the efficient sourcing and acquisition of goods and services required by the organization. The primary goal of this role is to optimize the procurement process, minimize costs, and maintain a high level of quality and reliability in the Supply Chain. To achieve this, the Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager must collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Train and manage purchasing staff to navigate the Requisition field of Procurement Software, including moving orders along the progression of Req. to “Received on Shore”
- Review all Procurement Software requests for proper assignment to asset/project.
- Oversee QuickBooks Create requisitions, purchase orders, receive orders, and closeout purchase orders.
- Gather Quotes from Vendors for all upcoming
- Maintain vendor relationships, including placing orders for projects, getting competitive pricing, and scheduling deliveries.
- Coding receipts and copies of Invoices to credit card
- “Marry” PO’s with Packing Slips and Invoices for Accounting Department Audits
- Manage Buyers to support purchasing department
- Manage Receiving / Logistics to unload deliveries, review and handle Packing Slips
- Manage keep stock systems with the creation and maintenance of keep stock systems, outside vendors, and storage organization and maintenance.
- Support operations in continuously improving proper storage of materials
- Collaborate with operations to continuously refine critical stock for vessels and assets
- Support purchasing for off-site locations and assets
- Develop training procedures for departmental functions
- Occasional travel may be required
WHO YOU ARE:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain management, or a related field is desirable.
- 5+ years of shipyard and/or construction site experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience as a Procurement Manager or a similar role, preferably in a complex organizational setting.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and Supply trends.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
- Proficient in using procurement software and systems for requisitioning, sourcing, and purchasing.
- Procurify software experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are desirable.
