Requirements:

The role of the Senior Purchasing Coordinator controls all plant-level purchasing operations. Responsible for overseeing purchasing associates and communicating with senior leadership on procurement strategies and plans. Expected to support current activities along with future company growth. Must have the ability to communicate and anticipate issues while being pro-active with strategic critical thinking to ensure department success. Responsible in oversee cost reductions, quotes completed timely, and deliveries are completed on time.


Responsibilities:

  • Ability to build strategic purchasing and inventory practices for future growth.
  • Establish purchasing guidelines and policies that are in compliance with established business practices, ethical guidelines, and ISO procedures.
  • Initiate, conduct, and negotiate strategic supply arrangements with key suppliers.
  • Set up contracts with outside machine shops and testing service supplier (with help from quality) for all outsourced operations.
  • Initiates and tracks cost reductions on purchased material, freight, and outside serviced.
  • EOM report preparation for accounting and management.
  • Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus materials, equipment, and other items as necessary.
  • Act as primary inside contact between company and supplier in all delivery and schedule related issues.
  • Maintain purchase order delivery date, quantity information, product quality or performance, and inventory.
  • Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
  • Coordinates raw material and component cycle counts and material adjustments.
  • Overseas incoming freight for correct paperwork and packaging
  • Works with safety manager on disposal of liquid waste and Title V report to OSHA
  • Work in conjunction with Senior Leadership and Internal Departments to support, promote, and monitor the efficient operations of the facility to meet strategic goals of the organization.
  • Ensure supply continuity through risk management and supplier diversification.

Education & Training:


  • Bachelor’s degree in business preferred (concentration in purchasing, marketing, supply chain, or leadership).
  • APICS, CPIM, PMP, ASQ, or Lean Six Sigma Certifications preferred.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • At least 3-5+ years of technical leadership and people management experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with purchasing, inventory management, operations, or supply chain.
  • 3-5+ years Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Material Resource Planning (MRP) experience, and/or Warehouse Management Software (WMS)
  • Experience leading a centralized team providing support to multiple aligned teams.
  • Excellent problem solving, issue identification and technical documentation skills.
  • Have a customer-first mindset and a strong ability to bring people together from across other departments to accomplish strategic and operational goals.
  • Proven experience of coaching and mentoring Purchasing Coordinators in an agile environment.
  • Strong knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency with multiple software and mainframe applications, using Microsoft Office Suite, SQL, and statistical analysis; advanced knowledge of distribution, inventory, and business systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of planning and inventory concepts around product movement, disposition, business processes, and relevant industry compliance.
