Pay
This position is a non-exempt hourly position at pay grade 103.
Attendance:
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities
The Public Works Technician I will maintain and mow the City's right-of-way and drainage ditches.
• Operate various types of machinery such as trucks, slope mowers, tractor with batwing attachment, flat mowing tractors, zero turn mowers, operating weed-eaters, chain saws, brooms, shovels, pick, lopping shears, blowers, pole saws, rakes, trash grabbers and basic understanding of hand tools/power tools.
• Will require obeying all traffic laws while moving equipment from one location to another and following all City ordinance, policies, and procedures.
• Follow the Traffic control standards as per the Texas MUTCD Work Zone Traffic Control Guide.
• Will perform vehicle inspections, set up traffic control, pick up trash, and weed eating.
• Will provide instruction and guidance to employees assisting on brush crew and provide entry level assistance to mowing crews requiring general understanding of OSHA safety regulations and safety issues; basic knowledge and understanding of hazard recognition.
• Will be required to complete daily vehicle inspection logs, mowing logs, work orders, completing injury report and have basic understanding and ability to use MSDS sheets.
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Requires a High School Diploma or GED
• No experience required.
• A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
Safety Certifications & Licenses
• Traffic Control & Flagging (within 6 months)
• Confined Space (within 6 months)
• Trenching & Shoring (within 6 months)

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
