PUMP AND MOTOR TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Pump and Motor Technician is responsible for performing the following: inspecting, maintaining, installing, and repairing various types of equipment to prolong the serviceable life of all equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
· Assists Lead Pump and Motor Technician and Maintenance Technician when needed.
· Repairs or replaces pumps, motors, gearboxes, blowers, belt presses, and other equipment.
· Performs regular and preventative maintenance, greases equipment, adds and replaces oil, replaces belts and filters, etc.
· Installs conduit, electrical and plumbing systems.
· Fabricates, welds, and cuts materials to fit project repairs or adaptations.
· Cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
· Repairs or replaces general facility components as directed.
· Maintains weekly log of duties performed and completes work orders in a timely order and keeps inventory system up to date.
· Cleans shop area as assigned.
· Transports equipment and materials as needed.
· Follows WTCPUA safety policies and procedures.
· Completes continuing education directly related to job responsibilities and applicable licensures.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Ability to adapt to new technology, new methods and changing conditions.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to effectively communicate within and outside of departmental personnel.
· Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to work well with others.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Knowledge and ability to drive heavy construction equipment.
· Skill in welding and fabrication.
· Willingness to grow within the Water/Wastewater industry.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school education or G.E.D. and one-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in water and wastewater maintenance or operations, welding/fabrication, equipment maintenance, mechanical, electrical, or closely related field.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school education or G.E.D. and two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A valid Class C Texas Driver's License required.
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration, confined spaces, and traffic hazards. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather condition, dampness, direct sunlight, dust, pollen, insect stings, and animals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Involves moderate exposure to dangerous situations. Involves moderate exposure to stress due to the work environment and/or crisis situations. Works on-call duty and responds at any hour during an emergency when requested.

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
