The Town of Milford seeks a dedicated, proactive, and experienced candidate to serve as its Public Works Director/Road Commissioner.
Milford, incorporated in 1833, is located in Penobscot County, 15 miles northeast of Bangor. Milford is a close-knit, family-oriented community of approximately 3,000 year-round residents.
The Director of Public Works oversees all departmental operations and performs high-level administrative responsibilities, oversees the Town’s capital planning and project implementation, and environmental compliance and reporting, as well as works with Boards and Committees. The department director, under the direct supervision of the Town Administrator, is responsible for the Sanitary Sewer System, Storm Water Sewers, Municipal Solid Waste, roadway maintenance and snow clearing operations, facilities maintenance, parks, and recreation facilities, and serves as a sextant. The Director will oversee contracts and contractors, as well as plan for the appropriate department staffing to meet the needs of the Town.
The preferred candidate will have seven (7) years of successful year-round highway, Public Works, or facilities maintenance experiences with three (3) years of progressively responsible experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, or related field desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of these required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
