The ideal candidate will be flexible and have strong customer service skills and great attention to detail. This position frequently requires these physical abilities:
  • Lift up to 35 pounds
  • Push and pull book carts and book return bins on wheels
  • Bend, kneel and reach to shelve books
  • Stand for extended periods of time

Please see the attached position description for a more detailed list of job duties and requirements.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Schedule & Location

This recruitment is for future opportunities. The specific details regarding library branches and schedules are unknown at this time. Schedules will be communicated to candidates who successfully pass a skills assessment, interview process and reference checks as opportunities become available.

Employees are assigned predictable work schedules that do not change each week. Most schedules include an evening and weekend shift.

When you submit your application you will have the ability to indicate your location and schedule preferences.

Pay and Benefits

The compensation for this position begins at $15.83 per hour.

Part-time positions (24 hours per week) and full-time positions (40 hours per week) offer an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance benefits, life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment, long term disability benefits, and Washington State PERS retirement. Employees have the ability to enroll in additional, voluntary life insurance, income protection plans, flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.

Our employees enjoy 12 paid holidays throughout the year. The initial vacation leave accrual is 11 hours per month for full time and 6.6 hours per month for part time; this increases over time based on years of employment. Sick leave accrual is 8 hours per month for full time and 4.8 for part time per month. We also offer other types of paid time off for situations such as jury duty, bereavement leave, inclement weather and more.

Some positions may be eligible for a 5% pay premium on top of the starting pay rate for additional language skills. To be eligible for the additional pay employees must pass a test demonstrating verbal and written fluency in languages commonly used in our communities. Examples may include, but are not limited to, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin and American Sign Language.
