Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate:$17.34 - $21.67 / hour
Summary
The Lee Health Public Safety Department consists of more than 135 staff members throughout our hospital and community based care locations. The Departments primary focus is to prevent crime and the fear of crime and to enhance safety and the perception of safety for Lee Health patients, families, visitors and staff in support of Lee Healths mission, vision and values. Public Safety Dispatchers are an integral part of the Public Safety team. Duties include but are not limited to:
Receiving, evaluating, and prioritizing emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
Relaying calls for emergency and non-emergency Public Safety assistance to Public Safety Officers, Plant Operations staff, clinical team members, and area law enforcement and Public Safety agencies.
Dispatching appropriate personnel to calls for service utilizing a multi-channel radio.
Monitors and dispatches appropriate staff to respond to fire, duress, infant abduction, intrusion and other alarms.
Assesses officers location and status to determine whether additional support is needed.
Operates a variety of electronic equipment including the computer aided dispatch, radio, telephone, and alarm systems.
Display compassion, empathy, and respect toward patients, staff, and visitors.
Possess a strong desire to be part of an organization that requires a commitment to teamwork.
Provide support during times of emergency including hurricanes, tornadoes, multi-casualty incidents, pandemic response, and other situations.
Be part of a team that provides 24/7/365 coverage working an assigned 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shift.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Required:
- High school or equivalent (GED)
Experience
Required:
None required.
Preferred:
- Minimum of 6 months operating a multi-line phone system or dispatching.
State of Florida Licensure Requirements
Possess a valid Florida Driver's license or state issued ID card.

Other Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in order to carry out and communicate safety instructions.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish highly preferred.
- Ability to multi-task in a high paced stressful environment and keep calm in all situations.
- Proficient in use of computers and printers, and/or ability to learn appropriate software applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Ability to assess emergency situations and take steps to verbally de-escalate situations.
This position requires the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. This job may also require working during natural disasters, including hurricanes. Must be committed to quality customer service effectively promoting ExceptionalLee principles.
