Job Description
Summary Description: The Laboratory Technician will take direction from the Manufacturing Compound Development Manager to assist in preparation and testing of new formulations, organization and presentation of test data, operating basic polymer lab compounding and analytical equipment, and providing accurate and concise reports in support of product development. Flexible PVC is the polymer of focus with other polymers also considered.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities: Operate equipment and perform standardized testing in the plastic laboratories under the direction of the Manufacturing Compound Development Manager.
• Prepare production and development compounds for physical property evaluation and characterization in the laboratory.
• Operate equipment and perform standardized testing in the plastic laboratories under the direction of the Manager, Formulations.
• Evaluate raw materials, material suppliers & compounds for cost reduction and quality improvements.
• Assist Development Engineers in special projects.
• Help maintain lab equipment, lab cleanliness and lab data systems.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
• A High School diploma is required.
• Must be able to work 20 - 30 hours per week.
• Experience in a lab or production environment is a plus.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, time management skills, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Must be able to work independently or as a strong support in a team environment
• Must have excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Physical effort is occasionally required. Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs.
