St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – North Campus (FTC-N), a Missouri Department of Mental Health forensic inpatient facility, has a position for a Missouri licensed or license-eligible psychologist. The position is currently open with start date negotiable.
What you’ll do: St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – North Campus (FTC-N) is a 75-bed inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital serving adults committed to the Department of Mental Health as incompetent to stand trial. Serving a large area of the state, FTC-N treats males and females from a highly diverse catchment area that includes rural, urban and suburban populations.
The psychologist hired for this position will be responsible for providing treatment and conducting the duties of a unit psychologist on a 25-bed inpatient competency restoration treatment unit. The facility is seeking a person for whom inpatient treatment and working within a team setting is a passion.
The psychologist will provide individual and group therapies to persons committed as incompetent to stand trial. As such, considerable knowledge of individual and group psychotherapy with persons who have severe and persistent mental illness, neurocognitive impairment, intellectual impairment and personality disorders is required. Experience in the treatment of substance use disorders will also be an asset. Specific training in Competency Restoration interventions is provided.
The psychologist in this position is an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, and will participate in team decision-making, treatment planning, and consultation with psychiatry, pharmacy, nursing, social work and rehabilitation staff. Thus, expertise in facilitation of the team process will be an important skill. The psychologist will conduct psychological assessments on an as needed basis. In this role, the psychologist will administer, score and interpret intellectual, neurocognitive and personality assessments, and provide written reports for diagnostic clarification and treatment planning.
All psychologists serve the entire facility through leadership of and participation in facility committees and special projects in meeting Joint Commission accreditation standards. The psychologist will also have the opportunity to function as a supervisor for the St. Louis Psychology Internship Consortium (SLPIC) and to provide didactics in individual areas of specialty.
Duties include:
- Develop and implement individual treatment plans
- Conduct individual therapy and lead treatment groups
- Conduct psychological assessments as needed and complete necessary treatment documentation.
- Opportunities to supervise practicum students and psychology interns
- Participate in hospital wide committees and other leadership opportunities available within the hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctorate in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensure as a Psychologist, or license eligibility in Missouri.
- If not licensed at time of hire, must attain license within 12 months.
