As an Automation Specialist Intern in Engineering Services, you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
As a Protection Specialist Intern, a typical day might include the following:
- Perform power system automation consulting work on projects (Creating/Updating 2D drawings, Providing setting calculations, Configuring SEL devices, etc.).
- Support customers in the areas of Oil & Gas, Electrical Utilities, and/or Renewable Energy.
- Work alongside Project Managers, Technical Leads, and Engineers from other focus areas located in multiple locations in the U.S.
- Learn how SEL makes electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical.
- Some of the engineering tasks you will get an opportunity to work on and learn are:
- Develop and test control and monitoring systems for power systems, microgrids and/or renewable systems
This job might be for you if you:
- Have basic working knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
- Have experience with 2D CAD software.
- Are pursuing a 4-year Electrical Engineering Technology degree.
- Are interested in learning more about power system automation, control and networking

Pay Range Data
($15.00 - $21.00 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
