A home inspection is a vital process in any real estate transaction. A Home Inspector needs to have proper education and training to cover the broad spectrum of building standards throughout the various years that a home or other structure may have been built. A home inspection is NOT a building code violation inspection; however, the Inspector should have specific building standards knowledge and understand reasons and methods for building standards. Good communication is an important skill for a Home Inspector.
Chattanooga inspectors have been providing Buyer’s Inspection, Pre-Listing Inspection, Mold Testing, Radon Testing, Septic Inspection, Pools and Spa Inspection, Gas Leak Detection, Water Quality Testing and Aerial Photos to home buyers and home sellers in the following areas of Chattanooga (37421), Hixson (37343), Apison (37302), Ooltewah (37363), Collegedale (37302), Soddy Daisy (37379), Middle Valley (37343), Signal Mountain (37377), Red Bank (37415), East Ridge (37412) and the surrounding areas since 2014.

The day-to-day duties performed by a Home Inspector include:
Perform multiple home inspections per day using a computer program and touch screen tablet to record observations to report back to the Real Estate Agent and/or the Client (usually the person purchasing the home).
Ability to identify “defects” within a home or structure, photograph such defects, document the findings and communicate the findings to the client in a non-alarming manner. A Home Inspector Certification is required to be qualified for this job
Physical requirements: A Home Inspector should be in good physical shape and condition as they will often be performing the following physical tasks:
Carrying, setting up and climbing a 12-foot ladder
Accessing and walking on various roof materials, sometimes traversing areas/roof surfaces that are 20 to 30 feet from the ground.
Accessing and traversing attic spaces (tight spaces and high temperatures are common), good balance and equilibrium are needed.
Accessing and traversing under structure crawl spaces (tight spaces, often contain pests, remnants of pests, insects, spider webs, moisture, electrical and other components of the foundation of a structure).
Ability to work in high temperature environments (summer) and low temperature and wet environments (winter), outside work is required no matter what type of weather on the day of the inspection.
Experience in property management, construction, or customer service is a plus!
