TheOpportunity:
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for the role of Project Manager - R&D for our Irving, TX location. The primary function of this position is to manage one or more projects with moderate complexity within the Research and Development organization. You will manage multi-year projects from concept to research and development and through commercialization so that it is completed on time and within budget while complying with quality system requirements.
What You’ll Work On:
- Coordinate input from multiple areas or multiple Project Managers on related projects.
- Lead cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects with sound problem-solving methodology; track project and program status and results; remove and elevate project barriers.
- Accountable for total project scope; lead the development of integrated project plans including the definition of work breakdown structure and organization of tasks into the project schedule. Completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date.
- This position will require the creation of detailed project plans, resource and budget management, schedule management, project risk assessments, and project documentation for stage gate reviews.
- Drive cross-functional teams to meet milestones and deliverables established in project planning and agreed upon with senior leadership.
- Develop timelines and milestones. Utilize project scheduling software to plan and track projects.
- Translate project goals into project tasks. Define the nature of the stated business or technical problem.
- Prepare and present project progress reports to keep management and team informed. Identify problems and work to resolve them.
- Analyze data for true causes of problems.
- Solicit the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions in a tactful and persuasive manner.
- Lead others in the completion of project tasks and sub-projects
- Manage a cross-functional team which may consist of senior-level individual contributors.
- Manage the decision-making process.
- Creates a work environment that supports team effectiveness. Provides feedback to team members on performance
- Assist with integration of common tools and techniques.
- Interface with other disciplines, customers, internal clients, project staff and internal and external experts as required
- Prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences, including senior management. Adjusts presentation style and content to suit the audience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5-7 years of experience in project management.
- MS Project experience required.
- Demonstrated success in project execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Science/Engineering background preferred, however, other subject areas will be considered.
- Experience in IVD or Med Device field with familiarity of Design Controls.
- Recognized technical skills and judgment appropriate to the project discipline.
- Proficiency in project management tools and processes, including Microsoft Office applications.
