About the Role:

Portfolio Manager is a leadership position in the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO). Serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and manages a portfolio of strategic programs and projects for assigned lines of business, with complex interdependencies across the Bank, in excess of $10 million in aggregate spend. Leverages life cycle of investments, initiatives, programs, projects, and outcomes to optimally achieve enterprise goals, objectives, and value delivery, as prioritized by the Bank's Operating Committee and Executive Portfolio Owner. As a member of the EPMO leadership team, also contributes to development and execution of departmental PPM roadmap and participates in internal and/or external audits, as necessary.

  • Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of senior and executive leadership toward establishing the enterprise portfolio roadmap and line of business portfolio definition, its structure, and processes, from demand intake, management, and alignment of initiatives to enterprise strategy; through qualification, analysis, and prioritization; to execution, oversight and measuring the achieved benefits. Work with key stakeholders to evaluate the impact to the portfolio or its components due to organization and/or business environment changes, documenting sequencing, resource requirements, dependencies, and constraints to deliver the portfolio and enterprise roadmap.
  • Engage with and conduct monthly (or specified interval) reviews with senior leaders across business and technology, executives, stakeholders, committees, and other relevant bodies to validate and assess the portfolio, execute change and reprioritize to meet business needs. Support and advise senior and executive leaders on actions required to balance and sequence the portfolio initiatives and resolve collisions, conflicts or issues impacting or with the potential to impact delivery of the portfolio.
  • Educate, promote, and advocate for adoption to stakeholders the policy, process, procedures, tools and templates required to support the successful intake, evaluation, selection, prioritization and delivery of portfolio initiatives.
  • Seek to identify, recommend, and implement improvements to accelerate delivery of portfolio initiatives and adoption of portfolio governance, management, and delivery processes.
  • In partnership with Portfolio Owners, drive, monitor, manage and communicate portfolio performance and delivery of the overall enterprise portfolio, including, monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (Budget, Resource, Schedule, and Scope health), analysis of performance, recommendations for corrective action, and reporting of portfolio health and benefit achievement.
  • Assist less experienced business and technology partners, portfolio, program and project Managers with mentoring and coaching, including demand and capacity management, Project Management, program and project cost accounting/budget management, and problem-solving best practices.
  • Partner with EPMO Director to ensure the Portfolio & Program Management (PPM) Roadmap objectives are achieved including, ensuring ongoing enhancements to the Portfolio, Program, and Project methodologies are integrated into the PPM, completion of related training for users of the PPM, and auditing data quality within the PPM for consistency across Portfolios. Establish and enforce the governance model for the EPMO, including all policies, processes, procedures, templates and tools utilized to support the Operating Committees, portfolio governance, and management standards and PMLC in alignment with Umpqua Bank corporate policies and practices.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities - knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • 7-10 years of program/Project Management experience required.
  • 2-4 years of lean portfolio management and/or portfolio governance and administration experience required.
  • 4-7 years of experience in IT and/or financial services industry preferred.
  • Experience in working closely with executives on large-scale projects and initiatives.
  • Expert understanding of project and portfolio management tools, methodologies and problem solving. Strong knowledge of
  • ServiceNow ITBM & Project Modules is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple programs/projects and deadlines in complex and changing environments.
  • Advanced technical skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Teams and Project
  • Act as a central point of communication and escalation to and from project team members, vendors, management, and others impacted by project activities.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Expert problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to utilize experience and influencing skills to facilitate successful project implementation, stakeholder management and effective issue resolution.
  • Scaled Agile experience preferred; experience with Agile, including Scrum and Kanban frameworks required.
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences of varying skill and organizational levels.
  • Ability to mentor less experienced Program/Project Managers
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) preferred.
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) preferred.

Our Benefits:

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $73,710 - $149,466, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
