Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Engineer, Geologist or Scientist to be based in Spokane, Washington. This full-time position within our Environmental Remediation West group will help manage freight rail, oil and gas, mining, and industrial projects with input from technical experts.

This position requires both office and field work; you should expect to be out in the field up to 25% of the time and travel requiring overnight stays up to 10% of the time. Field work will be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes.

Role accountabilities:

  • Implementing field work in a safe and efficient manner. Field work may include groundwater sampling, monitoring well installation, remediation system operations and maintenance, contractor oversight, and emergency response activities.
  • Client and regulatory correspondence and interactions
  • Supporting office teams in summarizing and evaluating data to support conceptual site models for environmental investigations, delineate the nature and extent of contamination, evaluate and implement remedial alternatives, and modify/optimize remediation and monitoring programs
  • Support the Pacific Northwest and Montana Incident Response and Recovery (IRR) community from both the field and office
  • Support project managers with management of project schedules and budgets
  • Technical report writing
  • Supporting the preparation of cost estimates and proposals
  • Working effectively with project teams, clients, and all other stakeholders
  • Coordinating work schedules with Arcadis staff and subcontractors
  • Health and safety stewardship
  • May require some regional travel for field visits (up to 10% estimated)

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental consulting

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working at freight rail and bulk fuel sites
  • Experience work at an emergency response
  • EIT/GIT certification

The salary range for this position is $76,000.00 - $114,000.00.
