Job Description
The Lead Project Engineer reports to the Director of Transmission Engineering and is responsible for leading the engineering, manufacturing, and technical support of combat vehicle Turret Drive gear boxes. This position works closely with the Program Manager and includes the day to day management and oversight of the engineers who have been assigned to execute the engineering work for the Turret Drive Program.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for Turret Gear Drive and sub-system design, analysis, integration, and performance in the combat vehicle application.
- Lead interface for technical discussion between RENK America and Customers/ Suppliers/ Contractors.
- Technical lead of cross-functional matrixed engineering team (ME, EE, Software, etc.) to oversee work quality and ensure engineering contract deliverables are met.
- Completes monthly estimate to complete budget assessments for projects, and delivers data to program finance and program management.
- Supports program management for all technical aspects of a program that may include Statements of Work (SOW), schedule, cost and risk.
- Approves engineering technical reports for submission to the customer.
- Accountable for Turret Gear Drive system level requirements and derivation of design requirements from vehicle level.
- Estimates engineering costs and is technical lead for new Turret Gear Drive projects, special assignments, and design and process improvement related projects.
- Manages engineering resources matrixed to the program including giving direct assignments and evaluating employee performance.
- Ensure Design Verification Test plans adequately captures all data to assess requirements compliance.
