At a Glance:
As a member of North American Solutions Engineering Support Team, the Project Engineer is responsible for completing Continuous Improvement rig design projects and providing technical support as an Engineering liaison to Drilling Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing. Whether in technical support or larger assignments, the Project Engineer assumes responsibility from start to finish by estimating resources required and working with engineers of other disciplines and designers to complete drawings for land and offshore rig systems. Responsibilities include engineering analysis, coordinating design efforts with other teams, assisting on field repair strategies, as well as interfacing with fabricators and H&P field operations.
What you will do:

- Review, correct, and produce engineered drawings
- Advise on structural and mechanical design, processes, and repairs.
- Answer customer questions about our rig fleet capabilities and supply necessary drawings for the request.
- Communicate project implementation plans with district personnel, field employees, and 3rd party contractors.
- Deliver time sensitive engineering responses to field and district personnel as well as our customer base.
- Assist many internal groups with engineering advisory, such as Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing, Maintenance, and our Technical Publications group.
What you need:
- Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering (structural discipline) from an accredited university
- 3-5 years of mechanical/structural design or operations experience
- Proficient with AutoCad, SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software
- Ability to read/correct fabrication drawings
- Able to manage multiple projects while providing technical support for drilling operations
- Design experience with pneumatic and hydraulic circuits is beneficial
- Steel design experience utilizing AISC Steel construction manual and/or Machinery Handbook is beneficial
- Experience working around heavy machinery and/or industrial environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with office, shop, and oil field personnel
- Familiarity with FEA modeling software such as ANSYS, Nastran, SAFI, STAAD, etc.
- Ability to design with the field in mind. (Designs that are intuitive, simple, durable, etc.)
- Willingness to travel up to 20% to fabrication facilities, assembly facilities, and rig sites
- Ability to build positive professional relationships in and out of H&P
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
