Job description

Plans, develops, schedules, and performs engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of liquified natural gas (LNG) facilities and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) facilities, gas distribution and pressure regulating systems, including major, complex projects. Provides support to ensure Eversource's LNG and LPG facilities operate safely, reliably, in compliance with State and federal regulations, and industry best practices. Analyzes, recommends and develops specific procedures and standards for implementation. Assumes supervisory on-call assignments as required. Supports values and commitment to Eversource's mission, strategy and values.
Essential Functions:

  • Develops procedures and programs to fit the Company's objectives, with some latitude for independent action and decision making, conforming to industry standards, guidelines and regulations of federal, state and local authorities.
  • Plant systems include, but are not limited to; gas pretreatment, liquefaction, boil off gas handling, cryogenic tank storage, plant utilities, firewater, low and medium voltage electrical systems and plant control systems.
  • Develops and maintains standards, procedures, and training documents to ensure compliance with company requirements, federal, state and local regulations and codes
  • Provides support to Operations as needed for operating and maintenance procedure writing, as well as update and maintenance of other plant documents such as plant lists.
  • Collaborates with the Engineering and Operations groups to ensure plant documents are updated through LNG Group's Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Works with the LNG group to ensure that the design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to equipment, meet the necessary regulatory and company standards.
  • Responsible for the update of plant documentation, including plant P&IDs, Arc Flash Studies, Fire Studies, Electrical Area Classifications, and other technical documents required by regulation, engaging contractors as needed.
  • Identifies areas that require improvement in maintenance and operation procedures to maintain adherence to all applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Collaborates with the Safety group to facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs).
  • Works with other Engineers and stakeholders in the development of technical documents for consistency within the group.
  • Provides guidance and support to stakeholders regarding technical clarification, interpretation of code and other complex information.
  • Assists stakeholders in the development of compliance processes and procedures.
  • Serves as a technical liaison between Engineering, Operations, and Safety.
  • Coordinates activities as needed with customers, contractors, States, Municipalities and internal departments.
  • Assists with ensuring that the design and specification of additions, modifications, and replacements to equipment, meet the necessary regulatory and company standards.
  • Reviews purchase requisitions, and invoices related to departmental activity. Monitors and provides reports on project and departmental budgets.
  • Assists junior staff and reviews their work and provides direction or assistance in carrying out assignments.
  • Develops and presents project summaries as required.
  • Coordinates resources required to complete processes or projects.
  • Implements and monitors compliance programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assists in facility and gas distribution system restoration efforts during emergencies.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Thorough knowledge of fundamental engineering disciplines, plant operation and maintenance work practices and procedures Must have the ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) and follow schematic drawings.
  • Ability to understand basic thermodynamics and cryogenic fundamentals as they relate to LNG.
  • Knowledge of applicable governmental code and regulations
  • Working knowledge of environmental requirements affecting related activities.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in technical writing.
  • Familiarity with MS Office
  • Ability to update CAD files a plus.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline

Experience:
  • Minimum of Five (5) years in engineering. LNG, Experience in gas distribution, industrial facility operation, LNG, Oil & Gas, or Power Plant experience a plus.

Licenses & Certification:
  • Engineer In- Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is not necessary but preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $106,700.00 to $118,550.00, plus incentive. Employees working in this position may be eligible to receive a rotational shift pay adder upon completion of training. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
  • Work is performed both in an office environment and the field. Related duties require sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs, ladders and tall structures. Work may take place outdoors during inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete company sponsored training programs for LNG Plant operations, LNG Operator training, fire fighting training, security training, HAZMAT training, first aid, OSHA and company specific operator qualifications.

  • Work includes project management, problem solving, independent thinking, supervision, calculating, comparing, technical writing, editing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing and presenting.
  • This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
