Description
Summary:On second shift, evaluate, research, develop, maintain, monitor and update engineering, and quality processes to assure product development, product flow, and product quality. Coordinate interdepartmental efforts to create processes and procedures that are product specific and institute control systems to enhance product consistency, quality standards, cost, and schedule adherence. This employee will be trained on first shift and transition to second shift when proficient.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Project Engineer:
- Establish and maintain engineering ownership of second shift production
- Interpret customer technical specifications, evaluate drawings, schematics, bill of materials and contracts to assess production viability and provide support
- Reconcile and resolve drawing and technical issues with customers and production by providing design and manufacturing related solutions
- Validate production times and provide feedback on labor and material estimates
- Provide direct engineering services for drawings, schematics, bill of materials, and processes instructions
- Evaluate and specify materials and processes to meet customer requirements
- Determine methods, fixtures, and tooling required for new projects
Requirements
Qualifications for Project Engineer 2nd shift:
- BSME, BSIE, BSEE or BS in a related field with five years engineering experience in a production facility
- Experience with cable and harness manufacturing / design for military product highly preferred
- Mechanical intuition and print interpretation required
Skills and Abilities for Project Engineer 2nd shift:
- Experience with government, military, MIL-SPEC, and SAE specifications
- Familiarity with connector, wire, and cable specifications, both military and commercial
- Proficiency in reading and evaluating blueprints, schematics, and production instructions
- Ability to research, collect, and interpret technical data
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD environment
- Strong verbal, written, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong intrapersonal skills to interact with other departments
- Strong managerial skills and self motivated to work within tight schedule and cost constraints
Work environment:
- Both manufacturing floor and office environment
- Extended periods of time spent on the production floor communicating with technicians, engineers, assemblers, and supervisory personnel
- Extensive use of computer and specific software programs
- Exposed to minimum to moderate noise levels on production floor
