JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Project Controls Manager, Project Management Support is an individual contributing subject manager expert that would support managing, training, and maintaining Project Controls processes, procedures, and best practices over a couple billion-dollar capital project portfolio in a matrixed environment.  Will provide support Project Management and Controls practices of all stages of capital project development and execution for major projects across T&D, Generation, and renewable functions which would include planning, design, permitting, construction, and start-up.  Works with teams to ensure comprehensive project management practices are implemented on Entergy projects in a matrix organization and helps train, develop, evaluate project needs to ensure robust cost and schedule management and achieve business goals on time and to budget. 

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides deep subject matter expertise (SME) in the various disciplines of project management and controls.
  • Maintains ownership for the development and continuous improvement of policies, standards, and guides that standardize and optimize project delivery across Entergy's business units.
  • Performs rigorous and independent project assessments of projects within Entergy's project portfolio to ensure compliance with Entergy's project management standards.
  • Supports projects as an SME Reviewer by performing rigorous evaluations of project management and controls deliverables, including business cases, alternatives, and execution plans presented by project teams.
  • Utilizes project management and Project Controls expertise as well as business acumen and experience to provide SME-level project management, controls, business case, alternatives and execution plans guidance to project team members across Entergy's business units.
  • Conducts training on the Entergy SGP, project management standards/implementation guides and in various Project Controls disciplines, such as Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), Estimation, etc.
  • Assists in the performance of analysis, optimization, and reporting on Entergy project portfolio including assessments of risk associated with completing planned scopes of work according to multi-year budget plans.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering Discipline, Finance, Accounting, or applicable course of study or related work experience
  • Preferred: MBA or other advanced degree

 

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 8 years of capital project development and management experience (Large, complex, utility capital project experience essential)
  • Preferred: at least 5 years of experience in the management and control of large, complex utility capital projects with an EPC or Engineering firm

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in the management and control of utility scale capital projects
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, interpersonal & group communication skills.
  • Strong Planning\Organization\Time Management skills.
  • Detailed oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong Computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel & Outlook, Power Point).
  • Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator.
