Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, the successful candidate is responsible for analyzing project performance and supporting the Project Managers with information and decision support for effective project management. The Project Accountant is also responsible for initiating project set-ups in the ERP system, producing timely billings to the customer in accordance with each contract, applying collections to the customer accounts receivable, and monitoring unbilled balances.
DUTIES
- Coordinate, when necessary, with project managers to ensure that support required to invoice the customers are received timely.
- Assist with month-end and year-end GL close processes.
- Prepare customer invoices in the ERP system, review & approve for accuracy, andcoordinate with the project manager on the delivery & customer collections.
- Responsible for setting up and maintaining projects in the Project Accounting module of the ERP system in accordance with contract requirements. Read and interpret contractual terms to set up the proper structure for collecting labor and expenses.
- Assist the project manager in tracking the scope of work vs work performed to identify potential variances that may require a change order.
- Monitor revenue recognition to ensure project revenue method is setup correctly.
- Process approved adjustments and/or write offs to the customer accounts.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of projects, revenue, unbilled AR, and general ledger.
- Maintain accounting files with established criteria and documentation.
- Generate and send out monthly customer statements. Provide copies of invoices, credit memos, etc. to internal or external customers when requested.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules for specific general ledger accounts and audit schedules relating to project accounting.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in project accounting, revenue recognition and billing, in a large ERP system.
- Must have strong Excel skills.
- Demonstrate flexibility in applying different approaches to changing work demands.
- Plan, organize and prioritize workload, to meet project deadlines.
- Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining projects with a work breakdown structure that supports effective project management and client invoicing requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field.
- High standard of integrity.

- Team-oriented and ability to deal cross functionally throughout departments. Develop positive relationships with all levels and team members.

- Requires excellent verbal, oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft D365 ERP, preferred.
COMPENSATION
The base pay range for this full-time non-exempt position is $27.00 - $33.00 per hour plus benefits. Pay ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay rates for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
