Job description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut’s mission is to provide children in need with wonderful adult mentors who help them reach their highest potential.

The Position

The Program Match Support Coordinator (full time; 35 flexible and Mostly Remote hours a week) provides positive, professional case management support to match participants in the agency’s Community-Based Mentoring Program to ensure child safety, positive outcomes for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between volunteers and youth, as well as a strong sense of affiliation with the agency. A high level of customer service, focusing on positive youth development, child safety, and strong communication with community partners, is critical to success in the position. Some local travel and a flexible work schedule are required.

Responsibilities

Service Delivery

  • Effectively execute agency and national standards for service delivery with a priority on child safety, while also remaining fully compliant with the standards of professional practice outlined by the agency and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
  • Manage a caseload of active mentoring relationships enrolled in the agency’s Community-Based Mentoring Program that is equivalent to at least 110 Match Support Contacts per month.
  • Conduct on-going support contacts with Bigs, Littles, and parents/guardians that align with agency standards and aim to support the growth of a positive, enduring match relationship by ensuring child safety, providing reflection opportunities, and educating program participants on elements of positive relationship building, child safety, and youth development.
  • Regularly intervene in individual match relationships to ensure that indictors of positive relationship building, elements of child safety, and youth development, as well as a sense of affiliation with the agency, are present within each match relationship.
  • Identify, address, and help resolve potential problems and barriers to successful match relationships, while developing strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow.
  • Maintain, revise, and provide on-going reflection opportunities related to each match’s Youth Outcomes Development Plan, while focusing on helping each match identify and strive towards specific, child-centered, and family-identified youth development goals.
  • Provide successful and compassionate support to program participants through the match closure process with an aim of maintaining each participant’s affiliation and engagement with the program and agency.
  • Effectively create, support, and steward key agency relationships with external community partners, including funding partners, community groups, local schools, and businesses, and many more to promote connection, affiliation, and engagement.
  • Enter all information into the agency’s Matchforce database and assist in ensuring the overall accuracy of database.
  • Adhere to a flexible work schedule that aligns appropriately with the scheduling and engagement needs of the volunteers, youth, and families the agency seeks to serve.
  • Consistently perform outstanding customer service to ensure that volunteers, youth, families, and partners feel supported, cared for, and well-affiliated with the agency

Program Enhancement

  • Actively participate positively within the agency, serves as a team player to help achieve agency goals, and work in partnership with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Effectively represent the agency as a community liaison to help improve overall brand awareness, attract new volunteer candidates, and help to expand youth/family access to the agency’s various program opportunities.
  • Maintain an understanding and familiarity with the agency’s program goals, including any/all those that relate to specific grants or sources of funding related to specific wok activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred plus one years of experience in working with both child and adult populations or equivalent experience. Degree requirement can be substituted with equivalent practical experience.
  • Specific youth and/or family case management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • Experience with databases and cloud-based technology is preferred.
  • Must have transportation, valid driver’s license, and meet state-required vehicle insurance minimum.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
