At United, we fly into airports around the entire world. And we need a whole team of people to keep things running in tip-top shape! From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the safety and regulatory compliance function and strategy for Airport operations
- Assists in liaison activities to the FAA and OSHA for the airline operating certificate
- Assists division to address OSHA, DOD, FAA Letters of Concern, Hazard Letters, ATOS/SASO inspection results, Letters of Investigations, Civil Penalties, Voluntary Self Disclosures and international CAA inspections
- Leads and facilitates investigation and root cause analysis for regulatory non-compliance issues and ensures comprehensive measures are developed to preclude further regulatory issues across all stations
- Leads division cause analysis for regulatory non-compliance and safety issues and ensures comprehensive corrective actions to address issues
- Ensures associated commitments are implemented
- Facilitates investigations and validation processes for implementation of comprehensive corrective actions for regulatory violations
- Assists Senior Manager in preparing legal counsel for negotiations of FAA and OSHA civil penalty cases
- Coordinates development of responses to FAA, OSHA and CAA letters of investigation and Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program
- Regulatory communication - leads and supports investigation and response for FAA Requests for Information (RFI), Letters of Concern (LOC), and SMS Hazard letters
NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL. and considered as a hybrid work-schedule working on a 2-3 days in-office schedule, however, that may evolve with the needs of the company.

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Undergraduate degree in technical, safety, or aviation related field or equivalent level of work experience
- Two years’ management experience with a major passenger, cargo or regional carrier
- Five years’ experience working in an airline operational capacity or similar experience
- Demonstrated skill in preparing written and verbal communications
- Working knowledge of Federal Aviation and/or OSHA regulations
- May be required to work and be available for calls during off hours
- Ability to travel up to 35%
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- Advanced degree in technical or safety related field
- Demonstrated experience working with governmental or regulatory agencies
- Formal cause analysis or investigation training
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint (think-cell), Foundry and/or Spotfire
