Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Program Director, IT Facility Construction and Business Growthresponsible for overseeing and leading IT's portfolio of projects related to new facility buildouts (clinics and hospitals) and growth through acquisition. This position has work-from-home flexibility with occasional requirements for onsite work at our different clinic and hospital locations throughout the Chicagoland area.
The IT Program Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the successful completion of projects within this portfolio. The Program Director will work closely with cross-functional IT teams, hospital operations, business stakeholders, and other resources to ensure that project goals and objectives are achieved on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. In this role, you will partner with the Facility Operations and Growth leadership teams, direct all IT activities related to the intake of new Facility or Growth projects.
Who you are:
An organized and analytical IT leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as:
  • At least 8 years of professional IT project leadership spanning across multiple functional areas to provide a breadth of perspective.
  • Program management experience in information technology with a focus on managing large and complex transformational projects.
  • Experience leading IT system deployments in a hospital setting and experience with EPIC and related clinical applications is strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Wide breadth of knowledge of IT components required for a new healthcare facility build out or physician practice acquisition such as application, infrastructure, end user devices, etc.
  • Understanding of technical and Business processes involved in acquisitions such as data conversion, employee on-boarding, cutover, etc.
  • Proven experience in project financial management and budgeting.

What you'll do as a Program Director, IT Facility Construction and Business Growth:
  • Engage with Facility Operations or Growth leadership and teams to evaluate prospective sites for feasibility of IT hardware and infrastructure components including network, medical devices, and end user computing equipment.
  • Understand the application build requirements across all clinical services in scope for the facility to support the clinical services in the proposed site.
  • Deliver concept budgets, high level resource plans, and risks with mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in planning and justifying IT investments as it relates to facilities projects.
  • Oversee the delivery of the IT components of the in-process projects and ensure that project goals and deliverables are in line with business objectives.
  • Review project status prepared by project managers and remove roadblocks to ensure project teams continue to make progress.
  • Identify program-level risks and issues and develop mitigation strategies, proactively monitor and address program risks to minimize their impact on project timelines and outcomes, and escalate critical issues to senior management when necessary.
  • Maintain regular communication, provide program updates, and address concerns or issues with key stakeholders, including executives, project managers, and team members.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their alignment with program goals.
  • Identify and manage project and program dependencies and risks and drive corrective actions.
  • Monitor program budgets and expenditures, and ensure adherence to financial guidelines and track program costs, while identifying cost-saving opportunities and manage program finances effectively.
  • Establish and lead the program governance frameworks, processes, and standards, and define clear roles and responsibilities for program stakeholders.
  • Represent IT in UCM leadership meetings related to Facility Operations and Enterprise Growth (physician practice acquisition).
  • Act as the liaison between IT, clinical operations, and facility teams to connect the goals of the business with IT delivery.
  • Create and update a roadmap of current and pipeline projects for business and IT stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of annual and project budgets and resource planning and provide ongoing leadership updates.
  • Conduct overall program evaluations project reviews, and identify areas for improvement and implement best practices to enhance program delivery and overall effectiveness.
  • Capture lessons learned for future projects and collaborate with IT Leadership team to create and improve inventory of IT Playbooks related to acquisitions, growth, and new facility build outs.
