The Office for Study Abroad (OSA) provides and facilitates quality international educational opportunities at the George Washington University. This position also partners with the OSA to support international education promotion and engagement of undergraduate students. In collaboration with the Program Associate, this position is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of international and cross-cultural events and programs offered to international students and scholars, as well as outgoing study-abroad students.
CORERESPONSIBILITIES
This position supports the development and implementation of events and programming for international students/scholars and outgoing study abroad students, sponsored by the International Services Office (ISO) and the Office for Study Abroad (OSA) to include:
- Provides pre-event and on-site support including registration, promotion, set up, check-in, vendor/venue coordination, and post-event breakdown and reporting
- Manages the International Student Ambassador (ISCA) Program, co-sponsored by the ISO and the Center for Career Services, including hiring, training, supervision, and development and implementation of ISCA-led events and programs
- Leads the development and implementation of programming for J-1 undergraduate exchange students and signature programs
- Responsible for creating content and managing ISO Social Media Accounts and providing oversight for ISCA social media accounts
- Responsible for relationship management/collaboration with GW Student Organizations
- Supports coordination of communications for the International Services Office newsletter and listserv
- Due to the nature of this position, some work during evenings and weekends may be required
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience and comfort working with design and content creation platforms, including Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and email marketing software is highly desirable
- Experience in study, travel, and work overseas is highly desirable
- Desire to learn new skills, think critically, and work creatively to problem solve and constantly improve outputs
- Strong organizational skills
- A minimum of two years of experience in at least two of the following areas is preferred:
- International education administration
- Student Affairs
- Events management
- Developing and/or leading cross-cultural programs
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills desired
- Strong knowledge of both Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides etc.) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) is preferred
