The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

The Columbia Population Research Center supports population health researchers across Columbia University, galvanizing new interdisciplinary and cross-campus collaborations, promoting the professional development of junior scientists, and enabling members to do more innovative and impactful work. Our members' interests encompass four primary research areas: Children, Youth, and Families; Immigration/Migration; Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS; and Urbanism and Neighborhoods, with cross-cutting attention to inequalities and policies to mitigate those inequalities.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Program Coordinator for the Columbia Population Research Center (CPRC) in the School of Social Work (CSSW) manages the day-to-day planning and operations of the Center, including meeting and event coordination, communications and other aspects of the Center's programs.

THIS IS A FULL-TIME, 100% GRANT-FUNDED POSITION. CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of all Center Cores and administer Center initiatives. Track space assignments, maintain supplies, and resolve requests for office needs.
  • Maintain and update all CPRC calendars for meetings and events. Schedule the Center's meetings, including the Administrative Core, Development Core, Steering Committee, and Advisory Committees. Track outcomes and metrics for meetings and events.
  • Prepare meeting materials and correspondence, and distribute to internal and external meeting participants.
  • Lead and develop the planning and production of the seminar series, working group meetings, workshops, conferences, and other events. Liaise with the appropriate campus offices and vendors to oversee pre- and post-event logistics, including travel and accommodations for external speakers.
  • Prepare all CPRC-related expenses for processing.
  • Compose and organize communications such as event notifications, newsletters, surveys, and various correspondences for CPRC members. Distribute these materials through email, mailing lists, and email marketing tools.
  • Create, select, and update the content for the CPRC website.
  • Manage the membership roster. Follow up with nominees and oversee the onboarding of new members.
  • Supervise the visiting scholars program, handling both the submission and evaluation of applications. Collaborate with key parties within CSSW and ISSO to approve and appoint scholars. Act as the primary liaison for chosen candidates and arrange their office accommodations.
  • Manage the seed grant program by uploading guidelines to the Center's website, circulating calls for proposals, overseeing committee evaluations, and dispatching outcome notifications to applicants.
  • Hire and supervise work-study students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent and a minimum of 2 years of related professional experience are required.


Other Requirements

  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, able to manage a large volume of tasks concurrently.
  • Must manage workload and time to meet stated deadlines, particularly in an environment with multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Must be resourceful and solution-oriented, a self-starter, and capable of timely follow-through.
  • Must be skilled at building and maintaining relationships and effectively interacting with diverse populations and broad constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High proficiency with software applications, including Word, Excel, Zoom, and Google Workspace tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred.
