Job Summary:
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL assist with the execution and coordination of outreach activities for The Jacob H. Carruthers Center. The Program Assistant is responsible for CCICS program recruitment, disseminating information, ensuring the delivery of services to NEIU students, and developing partnerships with CPS high schools, Chicago City Colleges, Community residents, and organizations.

Responsibilities:
- Engage stakeholders to promote NEIU-CCICS academic and community engagement programs
- Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with program stakeholders (e.g., City Colleges, CPS High Schools, Chicago Department, community members, etc.)
- Refers and connects NEIU-CCICS students to various services within the university and community and individuals in crisis with appropriate service providers
- Recruits and provides outreach in the high schools serving as a liaison between NEIU-CCICS
- Assists in the identification, development, and implementation of best practices, outreach programs, and community events that increase awareness among stakeholders
- Maintains records and prepares reports of community outreach activities
- Responds to written requests for information on departmental programs, as needed
- Assist with planning, coordination, and implementation of CCICS Programs, Events, and their activities.
- Support program growth and development as necessary.
- Coordinate and manage program communications and marketing.
- Coordinate interactions/relationships between students, staff, community partners, and all other program stakeholders.
- Schedule and organize program-related meetings and events.
- Research and maintain lists of NEIU and community resources for students.
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment of new program participants into specified programs i.e. Urban Community Studies, Non-traditional Programs and Project Success.
- Create CCICS newsletters and flyers.
- Support program participants with their social-emotional needs to navigate and access educational, community resources and social services.
- Attend community networking events to generate potential new participants and community partners.
Minimal Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree
Departmental Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or social services.
- Minimum four (4) years of directly related experience in the social service or education field (preferably underserved communities).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Experience with institutional databases.
- Good reporting, technical, and statistical skills.
- Competent computer skills and tech skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs, and Canva products.
- Strong understanding of cultural competency within the target population.
- Ability to successfully complete tasks in a timely manner with little or no supervision.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Experience in and a desire to work in a culturally diverse environment.

Salary: $24.00 hourly

Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
Available for some evenings and weekends.
