Klickitat Valley Health is a rural, critical-access hospital located in scenic Goldendale, Washington only two hours from Portland along the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge. KVH offers emergency and acute inpatient care and a full scope of ancillary services including General Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, PT / OT, Behavioral Health, Dental, Pain Management, Optometry and Hospice. The hospital also owns a busy, well-established primary clinic that is located on hospital campus. Inpatient care is managed by 24/7 Hospitalist staff. KVH employs over 300 staff.
The Volunteer Program Assistant supports the Volunteer Services Coordinator with both the daily operations of the Volunteer Program as well as Special Projects or Programs that the Volunteer Services department coordinates. The Volunteer Program Assistant may provide back-up coverage for the Volunteer Coordinator. The Assistant uses discretion when handling confidential volunteer information and demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with employees, physicians, patients, families and visitors. The assistant also trains volunteer Baristas, performs cashiering functions, orders supplies, and performs all aspects of a Barista - including set up and cleaning of shop and espresso machine at the end of shift.
QualificationsMinimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Food Handler’s Certificate/Card for Klickitat County Health Department.
Experience:
- At least one year experience working in a clerical or administrative role including drafting professional correspondence, data tracking and maintaining organizational systems.
- Six (6) months food service industry experience preferred.
- Experience working with the public in a service-oriented environment preferred.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Learn all functions of making the various coffee beverages/drinks.
- Train volunteer Baristas to make the various coffee beverages/drinks.
- Perform cashiering functions and be able to teach Baristas how to perform cashiering function.
- Perform all aspects of a Barista, including set up and cleaning of shop and Espresso machine at end of shift.
- Collect cash, credit charges, receipts and supporting documentation from the sale and prepare weekly reports.
- Process payroll deduction charges and report to Payroll weekly.
- Keep inventory of supplies, and order re-supply of inventory in conjunction with Volunteer Coordinator.
- Covers work shifts due to illness and/or absence of other volunteers.
- Ensures proper and safe use of all equipment; and practices appropriate safety precautions to avoid burns or other types of injury.
- Maintains a clean, safe, organized and orderly work station.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
