GIS Analyst - Nashville, TN

Duties/Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Planning Manager of the Tennessee Department of Transportation's (TDOT) Data Visualization Office (DVO), this position will serve as a GIS Analyst and Planning Supervisor. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Planning Supervisor to join our team. As the analytical GIS hub for spatial and non-spatial data across the Department, the DVO creatively interprets and decodes complex planning information into practical methodologies, maps, and tools. We are known for creating award-winning visual representations of transportation data using a variety of graphical and analytical methods.
Your primary responsibilities will include providing technical services and support to multiple programs and projects. Your expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), graphic design, transportation and land-use planning, traffic engineering and safety, as well as transportation law and regulations, will be crucial in addressing various technical topics. Additionally, you will be involved in program and project administration, proposal writing and support, and center and program communications. Market Range 10.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in geography, urban planning, transportation planning, engineering, computer science or other related fields and four years of experience;
- Excellent Geographic Information System (GIS) software skills, including the ability to customize software;
- Knowledge and experience using Data Analytics and Visualization platforms such as Power BI;
- Knowledge of basic transportation/land use planning and civil engineering principles;
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision;
- Ability to prioritize and balance a heavy workload based on project needs and deadlines;
- Eagerness and ability to learn new and complex issues in a short time period;
- Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment;
- Use of concise, efficient, and effective interpersonal and communication skills - virtual, oral, and written;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in geography, urban planning, transportation planning, engineering, computer science or other related fields and two years of experience
