**Candidate must obtain CANPC specialty certification within 1 year of hire.
General Summary
Assists in oversight of the daily operations and work activities of the Professional Coding team. Acts in a leadership role in the absence of the assigned manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a Coder.
- May perform audits on other staff members' work.
- Reviews, maintains, reconciles and/or corrects a variety of reports.
- May interact with vendors and other business associates.
- May assist staff with coding, claim edit, and follow up questions, issues, and workflow.
- Acts as a resource for coding staff, Patient Financial Services, Customer Service, Project One, and practices.
- Assists in training new hires as well as training for existing employees as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of coding guidelines.
- Able to perform workflows in Epic with proficiency.

- Establishes and maintains communication with ancillary departments/entities to facilitate problem solving and continuous process improvement.
- Assists in developing, establishing and maintaining policies, procedures and standards.
- Participates in educational programs and meetings.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers, fosters teamwork, and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 3 years Relevant experience. Required
Licenses:
- Certified Professional Coder Upon Hire Required or
- Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based Upon Hire Required or
- Certified Medical Coder Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
- Specialty Coding Certification Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills and computer skills.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT Coding.
